Goal Setting in the New Year

Mid-Year Reset: How to Realign Teams, Goals & Culture Before Q3

The calendar says June, and that mid-year slump? It’s real. But so is the opportunity to hit the reset button. Just like you’d clean out your closet or rearrange your living room for a fresh perspective, your team could use a realignment before Q3 kicks off. Whether you’re a department lead, HR manager, or executive, now is the perfect time to reflect, recalibrate, and reenergize your people.

Here are five actionable ways to lead a mid-year reset that actually sticks:

  1. Host a Half-Year Huddle

Gather your team for a casual (but purposeful) check-in. Think of it as a halftime locker room moment – what’s working, what’s not, and what’s next? Keep it interactive: ask for wins, pain points, and fresh ideas. These huddles don’t have to be stuffy PowerPoint meetings (in fact, recommend they are anything but). Instead, make them collaborative, maybe even off-site or over lunch.

  1. Revisit (and Refresh) Goals

Six months in, goals may be off-track – or worse, forgotten. It’s time to pull them off the shelf and do a quick audit: Which goals are still relevant? Which needs tweaking? Where do you need to pivot based on business shifts? Get your team involved in refining their own targets to boost buy-in and motivation.

  1. Clarify Roles and Expectations

Misalignment often starts with confusion about who owns what. Use this time to reaffirm responsibilities and streamline any gray areas. Remember: It’s not about micromanaging – it’s about empowering! Clear expectations help teams operate with confidence and accountability.

  1. Celebrate Progress (Even the Small Stuff)

A little recognition goes a long way. Celebrate what your team has already accomplished this year – even if it’s been a tough one. Highlight individual contributions, team wins, and collective grit. Gratitude and celebration are culture-builders, and they energize people for the road ahead.

  1. Do a Culture Pulse Check

Is your team still aligned with your company’s core values and behaviors? Culture isn’t static – it is alive, and it evolves. Use a pulse survey or roundtable conversation to get honest feedback about how your workplace feels right now. Where are people thriving? Where is there friction? This gives you a roadmap for reinforcing the culture you want to build.

Reset with Intention, Lead with Purpose

A mid-year reset isn’t just about productivity – it’s about your people. When leaders take time to realign goals, reenergize teams, and reconnect to culture, they pave the way for a strong finish to the year – and beyond.

That’s why we’re so passionate about the culture work we do. Our President & CEO, Jessica Gendron, recently shared her keynote, The Happiness Connection: Building a Thriving Workforce through Better Connection, at the National Slag Association Annual Meeting. She explored how meaningful connections in the workplace directly impact happiness, belonging, retention, safety, and productivity – no matter the industry. Her keynote offers practical, realistic ways leaders can build connections without crossing professional boundaries, helping organizations create cultures where people feel seen, supported, and engaged.

Let’s turn good intentions into real impact!

If your team is ready to reset with intention and reconnect through culture, we’d love to help – whether it’s through consulting, leadership development, or bringing Jessica’s keynote to your next event. For more information, visit cleindy.com/keynote-speaking today!
